1. Properties and USES of copper plating:

The copper coating is beautiful rose color, soft, ductile, easy to polish, and has good thermal and electrical conductivity.But it oxidizes easily in the air, quickly losing its luster and is therefore not suitable as a protective, “surface” coating for decorative coatings.

The copper plating layer is mainly used as the “bottom” layer when steel parts are coated in multiple layers, and is also often used as the “bottom” layer when tin, gold and silver are plated. The function of copper plating layer is to enhance the bonding force between the base metal and the surface or (or intermediate) coating, and at the same time, it is also conducive to surface coating deposition.When there is no hole in the copper plating layer, the corrosion resistance of the surface coating can be improved. For example, the advantage of adopting thick copper thin nickel plating process in the protective and decorative multi-layer plating is this, and the precious nickel metal can be saved.

2. Properties and USES of nickel plating:

Metal nickel has a strong passivating ability, can quickly form an extremely thin passivating film on the surface of the part, can resist the corrosion of atmosphere and some acids, so the nickel coating is very stable in the air.In the simple salt electrolyte of nickel, very fine coating of crystallization can be obtained, which has excellent polishing performance.Polished nickel coating has a mirror – like luster, while in the atmosphere can maintain its luster for a long time.In addition, nickel coating also has high hardness and wear resistance.According to the properties of nickel coating, it is mainly used for protection – the bottom, middle and surface of decorative coating, such as nickel – chromium coating, nickel – copper – chromium coating, copper – nickel – chromium coating, copper – nickel – chromium coating and copper – nickel coating.

Due to the high porosity of nickel coating, it is non-porous only when the thickness of the coating is above 25 million, so generally nickel coating is not used as a protective coating.Nickel plating production is high, and nickel plating consumes about 10 per cent of the world’s total nickel production.
